The Butler Memorial Trust
The trust was set up in 2000 by Barbara Butler in memory of her parents Dorothy and Leslie Illingworth-Butler of Bickleigh in Devon.
The Aim
The trust was set up to provide sites for ‘green’ burial. It is administered by a small group of volunteer trustees committed to running the site in such a way as to provide a more natural, tranquil and environmentally harmonious alternative to conventional burial grounds. The Fevin site at Westcombe is, at present, the trust’s only site.
The Philosophy
We aim to provide a place that cares about nature, cares about people and does its bit to care for the planet. The trustees are unpaid and much of the maintenance work is carried out on a voluntary basis.
